PA State Police enforcement at New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge nets citations, warnings
NEW HOPE, Pa. — The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission is praising the Pennsylvania State Police for a recent truck enforcement detail that targeted speed and width restriction violations at the New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge.
Troopers from Troop M conducted the inspection detail in August, resulting in 19 vehicle inspections, six citations, 83 warnings, and six operators placed out of service. Five vehicles were taken out of service, while one was found to be overweight and another oversized, the commission said.
The restrictions were put in place earlier this summer as part of a project to convert the bridge’s tolling system to cashless, all-electronic collection. Construction crews have already removed much of the former toll plaza, leaving one toll lane for E-ZPass and TOLL BY PLATE transactions.
Southbound traffic heading from New Jersey to Pennsylvania is limited to a 10-foot maximum vehicle or trailer width, while northbound traffic going from Pennsylvania to New Jersey is limited to 11 feet. The speed limit through the active work zone has been reduced to 25 mph.
Commission officials urged motorists to reduce speeds, prepare for lane shifts, follow size restrictions, and use caution while traveling through the area until further notice.
