Pedestrian in critical condition after Halloween night crash in Somerset County

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — Authorities are investigating a crash that left a pedestrian critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Friday night in Bernards Township, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

Prosecutor McDonald said that on October 31, at approximately 8:27 p.m., Bernards Township Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Allen Road at the intersection of Vanderveer Drive.

An on-scene investigation determined that a Bedminster Township resident was driving a 2025 Toyota RAV4 westbound on Allen Road when the vehicle struck a 42-year-old Basking Ridge woman who was crossing the roadway in a northbound direction.

According to preliminary findings, the victim appeared to have been using the marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. Police and emergency medical personnel treated the woman at the scene before she was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Prosecutor McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman Jr., and Bernards Township Police Chief Timothy King said the investigation remains ongoing.
