Pedestrian struck, killed by NJ Transit train in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A New Jersey Transit train fatally struck an adult male trespasser Wednesday evening near the Lebanon station, officials said.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:07 p.m. when Raritan Valley Line train 5733 struck the individual at the Mountain Road crossing in Clinton, according to NJ Transit officials. The train had departed Newark Penn Station at 4:36 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in High Bridge at 6:12 p.m.

No injuries were reported among the 25 passengers or crew members on board, officials said.

The identity of the man was not immediately released.

Raritan Valley Line service has resumed in both directions between the White House and High Bridge stations following the incident.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
