PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Phillipsburg police are investigating a series of catalytic converter thefts reported in several neighborhoods over the past few days and are asking residents to review surveillance footage for possible evidence.

According to the Phillipsburg Police Department, the incidents are believed to have occurred Saturday, May 9, at approximately 4 a.m.

Investigators are attempting to identify a vehicle of interest described as a dark blue Dodge Durango with tinted windows and a loud exhaust.

Police believe the thefts may have occurred during a single crime spree but said surveillance footage captured before or after the reported time could still assist investigators in identifying the vehicle or possible suspects.

The reported thefts occurred in the following areas:

  • 800 block of Dewey Avenue
  • 600 block of Sayre Avenue
  • 900 block of 6th Avenue
  • 100 block of Carpentersville Road
  • 1000 block of East Boulevard

Authorities are asking residents in those neighborhoods to check home surveillance systems, doorbell cameras, business cameras and dash cameras for possible video evidence.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage is asked to contact the Phillipsburg Police Department at 908-835-2002.

Police also reminded residents to remain alert, immediately report suspicious activity and avoid approaching individuals involved in suspicious behavior.
