Phillipsburg police seek man wanted in stolen vehicle case

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. (Warren County) — Phillipsburg police are seeking the public’s help locating a man wanted in connection with a stolen vehicle case and other related charges.

Police identified the suspect as Frailin M. Candelario-Tejeda, 20. Authorities said a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest after he failed to appear for subsequent court proceedings.

According to police, Candelario-Tejeda was arrested Jan. 2, 2024, in connection with a motor vehicle that had been reported stolen from Paterson.

During the incident, officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Candelario-Tejeda and other passengers exited the vehicle while it was still in motion and fled on foot, police said. The vehicle then struck a traffic sign.

Following a brief foot pursuit, Candelario-Tejeda was taken into custody and transported to the Warren County Jail. He was later released pending court proceedings.

Candelario-Tejeda is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. His current whereabouts are unknown. Police said he was last known to reside in the 1900 block of West Whitehall Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Candelario-Tejeda faces charges including unlawful taking of means of conveyance, obstructing administration of law, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief related to damage to a traffic sign or signal.
