Planned military training in Parsippany-Troy Hills may involve blank gunfire, helicopters

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — The Department of Defense will be conducting a planned training exercise in Parsippany one night between May 20 and May 24, from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., according to local officials.

The exact location of the training has not been disclosed to ensure safety and security. Officials noted the area selected is away from residential neighborhoods, but residents nearby may hear blank gunfire, booms, or see helicopters during the exercise.

“This is a planned training operation,” officials said. “There is no cause for alarm.”

The site was chosen specifically to minimize disruptions to the public.
