Police: Traffic stop leads to shoplifting arrest in Morris County

FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A Brooklyn man was charged with shoplifting after a traffic stop in Florham Park led police to investigate items believed to have been recently stolen, authorities said.

Police said an officer stopped a vehicle at about 4:15 p.m. June 11 on James Street after observing the driver fail to signal a lane change.

During the stop, the officer noticed items in the vehicle that appeared to have been recently stolen, prompting further investigation.

Police subsequently confirmed with management at a Walgreens store in Florham Park that the driver, Kimani France, 18, of Brooklyn, New York, had allegedly stolen the merchandise from the business.

France was arrested and taken to police headquarters for processing.

He was charged with shoplifting and also issued motor vehicle summonses for being an unlicensed driver and failing to signal a lane change. France was released pending a future appearance in municipal court.
