Project Self-Sufficiency seeks school supply donations for over 500 students
NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Project Self-Sufficiency is calling for donations of new school supplies to support more than 500 children and teens this August.
Organizers encourage donors to sponsor backpacks for students in need. A $25 donation will purchase and fill a small backpack with essential supplies for elementary school students, while a $50 donation will cover a larger backpack filled with key items for middle and high school students.
Monetary contributions, which allow the agency to buy supplies in bulk, can be made online at www.projectselfsufficiency.org/school-supplies. Donors who prefer to shop can refer to a wish list that includes new backpacks, crayons, pencils, erasers, glue sticks, scissors, pens, spiral notebooks, and loose-leaf paper. Backpacks in solid and neutral colors are preferred.
The backpacks and supplies will be distributed at a Back to School Fair in August, as well as at other events throughout the school year.
Families in need of backpacks and school supplies can call Project Self-Sufficiency at 973-940-3500 to be added to the distribution list. The organization is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.
