Project Self-Sufficiency to host Career and Health Fair Oct. 22 in Newton

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Area residents looking to improve their job prospects and overall well-being are invited to attend Project Self-Sufficiency’s Career & Health Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the agency’s campus in Newton.

The free event will feature local employers, educational institutions, and healthcare organizations offering job opportunities, training options, and health resources for individuals and families. Covid and flu vaccines will be provided by Acme to attendees ages 5 and older, and Project Self-Sufficiency Career Center staff will offer mock interviews and job search assistance. A gift card will also be raffled to one attendee.

“We encourage anyone who is interested in advancing their career and improving their health to attend this unique event,” said Project Self-Sufficiency Executive Director Deborah Berry-Toon. “In addition to learning about employment opportunities and options for furthering their education, attendees will walk away with tips for better health and wellness, and the resources they need to move forward in their job searching process.”

Participating employers and educational institutions include County College of Morris, Mars Wrigley, Mountain Creek Resort, Home Depot, New Jersey Department of Corrections, IBEW Local 102 JATC, and Sussex County Community College, among others.

Healthcare organizations such as Atlantic Health System, the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey, Bridgeway Behavioral Health Services, DASI (Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Intervention Services), and the Partnership for Maternal and Child Health will also be present to share information on wellness and family health resources.
