Readington Township police officers receive 2024 departmental awards

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – During the regular township committee meeting on Monday night, Readington Township Police Officers were recognized for their outstanding achievements with 2024 departmental awards.

Officers Jacob Belardo and Ryan Donovan received the department’s Exceptional Motivation and Initiative Award for their unwavering professionalism and dedication to the department.

Officers Trevor Anderson (USMC), Michael Ramos (USMC), Dylan Hourihan (USMC), and Miles Smith (USCG) were honored with the Military Service Award for their committed service to the armed forces.

Detective Sergeant Jason Phares, Detective Robert Medvetz, and Detective Alex Wright were presented with the Exceptional Service Award for their diligent investigative work, which resulted in a significant number of solved cases and the recovery of stolen property in 2024.

Officer Jacob Belardo was also named the recipient of the 2024 Departmental Achievement Award, commonly known as the “Officer of the Year Award.” This prestigious honor is voted on by all department members and is awarded to an officer who consistently performs at the highest standards.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
