Readington Township police to donate 3 vehicles to Yancey County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina and host toy drive for hurricane relief

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation in Yancey County, North Carolina, the Readington Township Police Department is stepping up to support the community by donating three police vehicles that were originally slated for auction to the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office.

To further assist in the recovery effort, the Readington Police will host a “Stuff the Police Cars” event this Saturday, November 9, at the municipal building, located at 507 Route 523, Whitehouse Station, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

“We are asking the community to donate an unwrapped toy that will be delivered to Yancey County for distribution to families in need. Any toys that don’t fit will be donated to Toys for Tots,” the police said.

The Readington Township Police also expressed their gratitude to local businesses that made this donation possible, including John Skiadas, owner of Delta Automotive Services in Bound Brook, NJ, who is providing transportation for the vehicles to North Carolina. Special thanks were also extended to Lenny Boffa of Speedline Car Wash & Detailing in Whitehouse Station for detailing the vehicles before they are shipped.
