Results show voters are fed up with bad policies, Assemblyman DiMaio says

NEW JERSEY – Assembly Republican Leader John DiMaio expressed optimism following Tuesday’s election results, seeing strong indicators of Republican momentum heading into next year’s critical state elections. With all Assembly seats and the governor’s office up for grabs, DiMaio believes Republicans are in a stronger position to make gains.

“As Democrats push further left, they seem to struggle more to bring their voters to the polls – both here and nationally,” said DiMaio (R-Warren). “The numbers speak volumes. Many of the issues that weighed down Vice President Kamala Harris on the national stage are the same policies embraced by New Jersey’s Legislative Democrats, often with little regard for the real-world impact on families just trying to keep up. These results highlight a shifting landscape, with early voting momentum building among Republicans, setting the stage for a pivotal state election next year.”

DiMaio pointed to President-elect Donald Trump’s unexpectedly close performance in New Jersey. Vice President Harris won the state by less than 5 percentage points, after Trump lost New Jersey by 14 points in 2016 and 16 in 2020. While the Associated Press called the state shortly after polls closed, other major networks waited until the early morning hours, signaling a tighter race than usual in New Jersey.

With Democrats facing headwinds and rising dissatisfaction among voters, DiMaio remains confident that Republicans will be well-positioned to address the issues most pressing to New Jerseyans like affordability, public safety and accountability.

“Our caucus is ready,” DiMaio said. “We’re focused on bringing real relief to New Jersey residents and restoring faith in our government. This is a real opportunity to chart a new course for our state and we’re ready to make that change happen.”
