
Route 15 ramp and lane closures scheduled overnight Aug. 1 in Wharton Borough for bridge repairs
WHARTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A ramp to Route 15 northbound and two lanes on Route 15 southbound in Wharton Borough, are scheduled to close overnight from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, as part of concrete bridge deck repairs, state officials said.
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced the closures as part of a $16.4 million state-funded maintenance contract aimed at repairing concrete structures in several counties, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren.
During the closure, the ramp from North Main Street to Route 15 northbound will be closed, along with the left and center lanes of Route 15 southbound from milepost 2.8 to milepost 2.4, on the bridge over Route 15 northbound.
Detour for North Main Street to Route 15 northbound:
- Continue on North Main Street
- Turn right onto Route 15 southbound
- Stay left to take the ramp to I-80 eastbound/New York City
- Take Exit 35 to Mount Hope/Dover
- Turn left onto Mount Hope Avenue (CR 661)
- Take the ramp to I-80 westbound
- Take Exit 34B to Route 15 northbound/Jefferson/Sparta
The closures are required to complete concrete repairs on the Route 15 southbound bridge over Route 15 northbound. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays when traveling through the work zone.
