Route 206 ramp to Falcon Road, Triangle Road closed for construction in Hillsborough

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — The Route 206 northbound ramp to Falcon Road and Triangle Road is closed and detoured through late fall as construction continues on the Route 206 Doctors Way to Valley Road project in Hillsborough, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The ramp closure began Monday, June 8, to allow crews to complete construction of a new northbound lane and regrade the area near the ramp. The traffic pattern is expected to remain in place through late fall 2026.

Motorists traveling north on Route 206 who want to access Falcon Road should continue north on Route 206, turn right on Opie Road and then turn left onto Falcon Road.

Drivers heading to Triangle Road should continue north on Route 206, turn right on Opie Road, turn right onto Falcon Road and then cross Route 206 at the traffic signal to reach Triangle Road.

The federally funded Route 206 Doctors Way to Valley Road project will create two travel lanes in each direction between Doctors Way and Valley Road. NJDOT said the project is intended to improve safety and ease congestion.

The project also includes construction of a new median barrier, which will eliminate left turns to and from properties along the highway. Drivers will instead be directed to newly signalized intersections and jughandles, a change intended to reduce turn-related crashes and improve traffic flow.

Portable variable message signs are being used to notify motorists of traffic pattern changes.

NJDOT said the timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check 511nj.org for real-time travel information.
