SEA LIFE New Jersey’s crab picks football winner in New York clash
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – SEA LIFE New Jersey’s new nine-spine Spider Crab (Libinia Emarginata) has been making his football picks since the start of the season.
He’s on a winning streak with three correct games, going for his fourth this week by picking the Jets.
The crab will be cheering on his pick just steps away from MetLife Stadium, where the Jets and Giants face off, as SEA LIFE Aquarium is located in the American Dream Mall.
SEA LIFE New Jersey’s crab is a local, originally from Shark River in Monmouth County, NJ. With an ever-changing personality, guests often spot this two-year-old crab buried under the sand or feasting on shrimp, krill, and algae. Spider crabs can live up to eight years and grow to a maximum leg span of 12 inches.
They are known as the “decorator” crabs, meaning they attach debris to the bumps on its carapace to camouflage themselves.
This ten-legged creature can be seen surrounded by other fish including Domino Damsels, Pajama Cardinals, and Harlequin Tusk Fish in this football-themed tank.
