Shelter-in-place lifted in Pohatcong Township; suspect in custody, no shots fired

POHATCONG TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Authorities say a shelter-in-place order in the River Road and Manor Road area of Pohatcong has been lifted and a suspect is in custody following a police operation.

Police said some residents reported hearing what they believed to be gunfire during the incident, but no firearms were discharged. The noises came from tactical devices used by officers to assist with entering a residence.

“There is no threat to the community,” police said in a statement.

Officials thanked residents for their patience during the operation and noted that no further information is being released at this time, citing the ongoing investigation. Police said any additional details will be made public as needed.
