Somerset County man charged with distributing sexual abuse material
NORTH PLAINFIELD BOROUGH, NJ (Somerset County) – A Somerset County man has been charged for allegedly distributing child sexual abuse material, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office of numerous tips involving images of Child Sexual Abuse Material associated with various electronic service providers.
Investigators confirmed that the various electronic service providers containing these numerous images of child sexual abuse material were all associated with George Wohar, Jr., 62, of North Plainfield Borough, McDonald said.
On Tuesday, June 25, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, along with officers from the North Plainfield Police Department, executed a Somerset County Superior Court ordered search warrant at Wohar Jr.’s residence, McDonald said.
As a result of the search, electronic devices including phones and a tablet were seized from the residence for further computer forensic examination. A search of these devices revealed multiple images and files containing child sexual abuse material, McDonald said.
Wohar Jr. was arrested without incident at his residence and charged with second-degree distribution of images depicting the sexual exploitation and/or abuse of a child, and third-degree possession of images depicting the sexual exploitation and/or abuse of a child, McDonald said.
Wohar Jr. was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing, McDonald said.
