New Jersey State Police K9 passes away

NEW JERSEY – A four legged policer officer who has served the New Jersey State Police for six years has passed away.

“It is with deep regret that the New Jersey State Police announces the passing of K9 Ed,” state police said.

K9 Ed passed away suddenly of natural causes on July 16, state police said.

He faithfully served as the partner of Trooper I William Bounds in the Canine Response and Training Unit’s Academy Squad. At 7 years old, Ed dedicated 6 years of service alongside Trooper I Bounds.

K9 Ed was trained in patrol and explosive detection.

“He will be missed by the entire State Police family. Rest in peace, Ed,” state police said.
