St. Hubert’s ‘Tails or Treats’ pet adoption event a spooktacular success

105 animals were adopted from Friday to Sunday

MADISON BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center hosted a hugely successful “Tails or Treats” pet adoption event on Saturday, October 12, attracting families and animal lovers eager to find new furry friends just in time for the Halloween season.

As part of the Mars Pet Adoption Weekend, the event featured waived adoption fees from October 11 to 13, encouraging the community to open their hearts and homes to the shelter’s animals. A total of 105 animals were adopted from Friday to Sunday.

The excitement was palpable as pups showcased their adorable costumes during a special photoshoot, embodying the Halloween spirit.

From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., attendees enjoyed a festive atmosphere filled with Halloween-themed activities. Highlights included costume contests for both pets and their humans, a trunk or treat for children, and a Halloween photo station. Guests also had the unique opportunity to visit the “Paw Reader” booth, where dogs could have their fortunes told.

“We’re thrilled that so many animals found loving homes over the weekend,” said Diane Ashton, St. Hubert’s Director of Media Relations. “Our shelter and shelters all over the country are very crowded right now, so having events like this one can really have a big impact. Thank you to WRNJ for helping us spread the word, and helping so many pets find their new families.”

In addition to St. Hubert’s residents, Homeward Bound and Cape May County Animal Shelter participated by bringing some of their adoptable dogs, expanding the options for potential adopters.

The event successfully raised awareness about pet adoption while providing a fun-filled day for families and animal enthusiasts alike. For those who missed the event, St. Hubert’s continues to offer a range of adoptable pets looking for loving homes.
