State police launch aggressive driving crackdown across New Jersey region
NEW JERSEY — The New Jersey State Police and partner agencies have launched a regional enforcement initiative targeting aggressive driving behaviors on roadways across the state and surrounding areas.
The effort, conducted in coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police, the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety and multiple municipal law enforcement agencies, will run through April 26.
Officials said the initiative includes high-visibility patrols, traffic enforcement zones, speed enforcement details, work zone enforcement and multi-jurisdictional operations.
The enforcement campaign is focused on identifying and citing drivers engaging in behaviors such as speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, unsafe lane changes and careless driving, with an emphasis on improving safety in work zones.
The effort is also being conducted in partnership with the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the Goal Zero campaign, which aims to reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries.
Officials emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader commitment to improving roadway safety and preventing crashes.
“The message is clear: safer driving saves lives,” state police said.
