State troopers rescue bear cub found along I-78 in Hunterdon County
UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — New Jersey State Police troopers rescued a bear cub found alone along Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, authorities said.
Troopers from the Perryville Station responded around 1:37 p.m. April 1 to a report of a lone bear cub in a roadside ditch on I-78 east near milepost 12.2.
Upon arrival, troopers located the cub, which appeared to be in need of assistance. The animal was safely secured and transported to the station before being turned over to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for care.
Authorities said the cub is now safe and receiving proper attention following the rescue.
