Suspect charged with murder after Sussex County stabbing victim dies

GREEN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) –  A woman stabbed in a Green Township home on Saturday morning has died, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Detective Jeffrey Lebron.

Karen Novato-Selimi, 59, of Green Township died from her injuries on Sunday, Oct. 15, Lebron said.

Troopers responded at 8:56 a.m. to Rachel Lane for the report of a stabbing, Lebron said.

When troopers arrived, they found Novato-Selimi of Green Township suffering from stab wounds, Lebron said.

Novato-Selimi was transported transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries, Lebron said.

Louis Selimi, 25, of Green Township was arrested and was originally charged with criminal attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon. He is additionally charged with murder, Lebron said.

Selimi remains lodged in Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing, Lebron said.

The relationship between the victim and suspect was not released.

“This is an active investigation and there is no additional information available,” Lebron said.
