Sussex County Library System celebrates Library Card Sign-Up Month with prizes, special events

SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Sussex County Library System (SCLS) is marking the occasion with its “One Card, Endless Possibilities” campaign to highlight the wide range of resources available with a single library card.

With an SCLS card, residents can access far more than books. Cardholders can stream movies, download audiobooks, take part in free workshops and events, and explore online learning. The library also lends out museum passes, Wi-Fi hotspots, cake pans, and more.

“The library is one of the few places everybody belongs,” said Will Porter, library director. “A library card connects you to knowledge, creativity, and community — it is truly for everyone in Sussex County.”

To encourage participation, the library is offering several giveaways during September:

  • Get, Use, or Renew Your Card: Every time someone signs up for, renews, or uses their library card during the month, they’ll be entered into a drawing for a library swag bundle. One winner will be selected at each branch.
  • Refer a Friend: Anyone who refers a friend to sign up for their first SCLS card will be entered — along with their friend — to win a grand prize of bundled gift cards.

Getting a card is simple. Residents can visit any SCLS branch with proof of residency or employment, or apply online at sussexcountylibrary.org. Cards are free for anyone living, working, or attending school in Sussex County, with the exception of Sparta residents.

The “One Card, Endless Possibilities” campaign runs September 1–30.
