Sussex County man pleads guilty to unlawful possession of a shotgun

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has entered a guilty to unlawful possession of a shotgun, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart

Richard Gannon, 32, of Wantage Township pled guilty to third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon on July 24 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Taggart said.

In pleading guilty, Gannon admitted to knowingly possessing a shotgun without having first obtained a permit to carry, Taggart said.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 15.

The case was investigated by Trooper Erny of the New Jersey State Police. Gannon was represented by Daniel Marchese, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Vanessa Henderson.
