Woman charged with DWI after hitting parked car in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after hitting a parked car early Sunday morning in Mount Olive Township, police said.

On April 21, at 3:29 a.m., an officer responded to Center Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival of the officer, a Nissan Sentra was located in the roadway where it came to rest after striking a parked vehicle, police said.

The officer made contact with the driver, who was identified as Kelsey Chaplin, 21, of Budd Lake, the officer allegedly detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed that she appeared to be impaired, police said.

The officer conducted field sobriety testing and subsequently arrested Chaplin. She was transported to police headquarters where she was charged with DWI and reckless driving, police said.

Chaplin was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
