Overnight traffic stoppages possible at New Hope–Lambertville Toll Bridge for tolling equipment installation
LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Motorists using the New Hope–Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge should prepare for extended traffic stoppages overnight Friday, Nov. 21, into early Saturday, Nov. 22, as crews install new overhead electronic tolling equipment, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced.
A contractor working for the Commission is scheduled to hoist and mount an overhead all-electronic tolling monotube on the Pennsylvania side of the bridge. The work requires a large crane to lift the steel tube into place atop two pre-cast concrete towers installed earlier this week.
During the operation, traffic in both directions may be halted for more than 15 minutes at a time, with each stoppage lasting up to a maximum of 30 minutes, officials said.
The Commission is advising drivers to plan ahead and consider alternate river crossings if the scheduled work proceeds as expected. Additional updates are expected during the week of Nov. 17.
The tolling-equipment installation is part of the Commission’s transition to a fully electronic toll-collection system at select river crossings.
