Teen seriously injured, airlifted after pickup crashes into tree in Sussex County

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County teen suffered serious injuries after his pickup truck crashed into a tree early Friday morning in Hampton Township, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash occurred around 12:33 a.m. on County Route 519 North at milepost 68.5, Lebron said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by a 19-year-old from Sandyston Township, was traveling northbound on CR 519 when it veered off the roadway to the left and struck a tree, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, the driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said.

The crash remains under investigation. No additional information was immediately available.
