Three charged in Morris County township for operating taxis without licenses, police say

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Three men were charged last week with operating taxis without licenses and multiple traffic violations after police investigated complaints about illegal livery services in Hanover township.

On Sept. 25, officers observed separate incidents outside McDonald’s in Hanover Township in which drivers pulled up to pick up passengers. Police said in each case, it was confirmed the men were transporting the individuals to Dover for a fee.

Those charged were identified as:

  • Jose Prudencio-Perez, 57, of Morristown
  • Lucio Sanchez, 36, of Dover
  • Yasset Caballon-Melendez, 34, of Dover

All three were served with complaints and released pending court appearances.

Police said the charges were part of an ongoing effort to address community concerns about unlicensed taxi services operating in the area.
