Tractor-trailer carrying refrigerated food catches fire on I-78 in Hunterdon County, state police say

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A tractor-trailer hauling refrigerated food caught fire on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County Sunday night, according to New Jersey State Police Sergeant Alejandro Goez.

The fire was reported at 10:42 p.m. in Interstate 78 eastbound at milepost 23.4 in Readington Township, Goez said.

The driver, a 45-year-old man from Philadelphia, PA, was not injured, Goez said.

The center and right lanes were closed until 6:00 a.m. on Monday for the cleanup, Goez said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Goez said.
