Traffic stop in Sussex County leads to arrest on drug possession, warrant
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Paterson man was arrested last month after a motor vehicle stop in Franklin Borough led to the discovery of suspected drugs and an outstanding warrant, police said.
Authorities said the stop took place the afternoon of July 3, when an investigation revealed the driver, identified as 26-year-old Christopher R. Delacruz, was in possession of suspected Adderall that was not prescribed to him. Police also said he failed to surrender the controlled substance as required by law.
Further investigation determined Delacruz did not have a valid driver’s license and had an active warrant issued by Clifton, police said.
He was taken into custody and charged with possession of a Schedule I–IV controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime, and failure to make lawful disposition of a controlled substance, a disorderly persons offense.
Delacruz was issued a criminal complaint summons along with several motor vehicle summonses, and later released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court under the New Jersey Bail Reform Act.
