Two charged after Route 46 traffic stop uncovers suspected drugs, stolen items in Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two New York men were charged following a traffic stop on Route 46 in Mount Olive Township that allegedly led to the discovery of suspected drugs, stolen property and burglary tools, according to police.

Police said the incident occurred at about 2:01 p.m. Dec. 13, 2025, when an officer on routine patrol observed a blue Infiniti allegedly failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 46. A motor vehicle stop was initiated near a Marathon gas station, authorities said.

The driver was identified as Angel Gabriel Perez Vazquez, 22, of Flushing, New York. The passenger was identified as Jusef Isaac Escobar Roldan, 20, also of Flushing.

During the investigation, police said Roldan was allegedly found in possession of three pills believed to be oxycodone and a debit card belonging to another individual. A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered an additional debit card and a wallet belonging to a third party, along with multiple Apple gift cards, ski masks and a flat-bladed tool commonly used in motor vehicle burglaries, police said.

Police said a search of Vazquez allegedly revealed additional Apple gift cards.

Roldan was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools, according to police.

Vazquez was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, failure to maintain lane, driving without a license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, fictitious license plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to exhibit documents, police said.

Both men were released pending court appearances.
