Two ejected from motorcycle in Route 206 crash in Byram Township, police say

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Two people were injured Saturday after a motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Route 206 North in Byram Township, police said.

According to police, officers responded to the crash on Oct. 4 after a vehicle traveling north on Route 206 stopped to make a left turn onto Whitehall Hill Road. A motorcycle traveling north reportedly drove onto the shoulder to pass the stopped vehicle, police said.

At the same time, another vehicle traveling south on Route 206 was turning left into Panther Lake when the motorcycle struck it, causing both the driver and passenger on the motorcycle to be ejected, authorities said. The impact also pushed the vehicle turning into Panther Lake into another vehicle that was exiting the area.

The motorcycle’s driver and passenger were transported to the hospital by the Lakeland Emergency Squad, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Nicholas M. Miele of Newton, was issued a summons for improper passing and has a pending appearance in Andover Joint Municipal Court, according to police.
