UPDATE: Boonton Avenue in Morris County to be closed for gas main work starting May 20
Gas main installation work that was originally scheduled for May 13, will now start May 20.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – Beginning Monday, May 20, Boonton Avenue will be closed between Wootton Street and Taylortown Road for approximately eight weeks to facilitate the installation of 10,000 feet of gas main that will impact traffic in Boonton, Boonton Township and Montville Township.
Work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Detours will be established, and heavy delays are anticipated. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternative routes.
Detour Plan (refer to map image for detour route):
- Northbound Traffic on Boonton Avenue
- Traffic will be detoured to turn right onto Wootton Street.
- Vehicles will then turn left onto Myrtle Avenue (County Route 202), continuing to Main Road.
- From Main Road, traffic will turn left onto Taylortown Road, leading back to Boonton Avenue.
Southbound Traffic on Boonton Avenue:
- Vehicles will turn left onto Taylortown Road.
- Traffic will then turn right onto Main Road and continue to Myrtle Avenue (Route 202).
- From Myrtle Avenue, traffic will turn right into Wootton Street, leading back to Boonton Avenue.
Local traffic, school buses and trucks larger than 12’-3” in height will be permitted to pass through the work zone.
