Vehicle crashes into utility pole, overturns in Hunterdon County

WEST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Emergency crews responded Friday morning to a crash involving an SUV that overturned after striking a utility pole, according to the West Amwell Fire Company.

Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 8:12 a.m. for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle on its side with possible entrapment.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found an SUV resting on its side against a snapped utility pole, authorities said.

According to the fire company, the driver was able to self-extricate from the vehicle before crews arrived.

Firefighters secured power to the vehicle and mitigated other hazards at the scene while awaiting the arrival of JCP&L and a tow company.

The driver was evaluated at the scene and later transported by a basic life support unit, authorities said.

The incident remains under investigation by police.
