Warren County man arrested for trying to meet adult posing as 15-year-old boy for sexual purposes

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A 46-year-old Warren County man was arrested after allegedly trying to meet up for sexual purposes with an adult posing as a 15-year-old boy in Phillipsburg, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

On July 28, John A. Degroat of Phillipsburg engaged in online commutations with an individual whom he believed to be a 15-year-old boy, officials said.

The communications were sexually explicit and Degroat invited the boy to his home for sexual purposes. the individual in question was an adult male posing as a 15-year-old boy, the prosecutor’s office said.

Degroat was charged with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
