Warren County proclaims October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month
WARREN COUNTY, NJ – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Warren County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed while noting that domestic violence affects all people of all ages, races, genders, and income levels.
Survivors of domestic violence must deal with the effects of physical injuries, psychological damage, financial barriers, and trouble finding safe housing, the Commissioners said in a proclamation read aloud by Commissioner Jason J. Sarnoski. No one should feel unsafe in their own home, the proclamation noted, but domestic violence will not be eliminated without a concerted effort among the community at large.
Hailey Fritzsch, Senior Manager of Advocacy & Capacity Building for the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County NJ (DASACC) accepted the proclamation, thanking the Commissioners “for your endless support” and willingness to help find solutions.
Sarnoski said DASACC is “truly an important partner in not only fighting this but bringing awareness” to the issue, adding, “This impacts every community in Warren County.”
Fritzsch added that DASACC has its annual fundraiser next month, “A Night at the Races Beefsteak” on November 17, 2023, at the Alpha Fire House. For more information on the event see www.dasacc.org/natr and www.dasacc.org to learn about the organization.
