Warren County Sheriff’s Office warns of jury duty scam calls

WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam where a male caller, identifying himself as “Sergeant Jacob” from the Sheriff’s Office, is contacting individuals regarding missed jury duty. The caller threatens arrest if the person does not immediately report to the Warren County Courthouse, according to Warren County Sheriff James McDonald, Sr.

The Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there is no employee named Sergeant Jacob and that these calls are part of a scam, McDonald said.

If anyone receives these types of calls, it is recommended that you inform the caller that you will be terminating the call and that you will telephone the Sheriff’s Office directly, McDonald siad.

Residents are urged to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at the official number, 908-475-6309, if they have any concerns or need to verify any communications they receive, McDonald said.
