Washington Borough man arrested on handgun possession charge

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) — A 65-year-old Washington Borough man, whose identity was not released, was arrested Dec. 15 on a charge of unlawful possession of a handgun, according to police.

Washington Township Police said the investigation stemmed from a domestic-related incident that occurred Dec. 14. At about 4:59 p.m. that day, a woman went to police headquarters to follow up on the incident.

After a court order was issued, officers obtained and executed a search warrant related to the investigation. During the search, police said they found a handgun that the man was legally prohibited from possessing.

With assistance from another law enforcement agency, officers located the man and took him into custody. He was processed and transported to the Warren County Jail, where he is being held pending a court appearance.
