Water restrictions remain in effect in Mount Olive Township
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Mount Olive Township is reminding residents of ongoing water restrictions and conservation measures in effect for all township-owned water systems.
These restrictions went into effect on Friday, Aug, 2, 2024, and will continue until further notice. The following guidelines apply to all consumers of township water:
- Residents may water their lawns based on the last digit of their address. Odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered days, while even-numbered addresses can water on even-numbered days. Limited watering hours are set from 5 AM to 8 AM and 6 PM to 9 PM, with no watering allowed from 8 AM to 6 PM.
- The washing of sidewalks, driveways, and other structures is prohibited during this period.
- Residents may water flowerbeds, vegetable gardens, shrubs, and trees using a hose equipped with a handheld shut-off nozzle or other low-volume methods, but not during the restricted hours of 8 AM to 6 PM.
- Vehicle washing is allowed, but it must be done using a bucket or a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
- The planting of ornamental vegetation, grass, and sod is discouraged during this restriction period. If new sod or seed planting is necessary (such as for new construction), daily watering is permitted for the first 45 days only. Residents must notify the Water Department on the date of planting.
Violators of these restrictions may be subject to fines. For questions or to report violations, residents can contact the Water Department at (973) 584-7086.
