Weekday single-lane traffic in effect at New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge for platform removal

LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Motorists can expect brief traffic stoppages and delays during weekday off-peak hours at the New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge as crews remove a temporary work platform, officials said.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced Thursday that alternating single-lane traffic patterns will be in place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays for the next three weeks.

The restrictions allow a contractor to dismantle a temporary platform installed beneath the bridge’s roadway deck in late November. The platform, made of cables and corrugated steel panels, enabled electricians to replace short-circuiting electrical junction boxes at multiple locations across the bridge.

That repair work was completed last week, restoring the bridge’s color-programmable LED architectural lighting system to full operation, officials said.

The removal process began this week and requires the bridge’s road deck to be reduced to a single lane, with traffic alternating in each direction for varying durations.

Officials said travel impacts are expected to be minor but urged drivers to reduce speeds, follow flagger instructions and use caution when restrictions are in effect.

The weekday flagging operations are currently scheduled to conclude by March 13, though weather or other factors could affect the timeline.
