Woman accused of harassing, stalking juvenile victim in field hockey coach case in Somerset County
BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Somerset County) — A Basking Ridge woman has been arrested and charged after prosecutors say she carried out an anonymous harassment campaign targeting the juvenile victim of a convicted field hockey coach, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald announced Friday.
Tracy Biondi, 56, was taken into custody on Nov. 13 outside her home and charged with fourth-degree cyber harassment, fourth-degree stalking and disorderly persons harassment. She is being held in the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing.
According to prosecutors, the investigation into Biondi began as detectives were examining the case of field hockey coach Brett Clay, who in February 2025 was convicted of fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact. Clay admitted he attempted to have sexual contact with a juvenile girl he coached and had sent her sexually explicit messages and offered money in exchange for sexual content.
After Clay’s conviction, the victim’s family learned from community members that anonymous handwritten letters containing “lewd, indecent, and obscene” statements about the girl were being circulated among people who knew her, authorities said. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit began investigating in May.
Investigators later determined the victim’s friends had also received anonymous messages through a social media app. Detectives traced those messages to an account linked to Biondi, prosecutors said.
Despite Clay’s admission of guilt, Biondi “began a relentless campaign to attack the victim,” prosecutors said, accusing her of creating “outright lies” and spreading them via letters and social media to the victim’s friends, teammates and classmates. Authorities said Biondi even referred to the juvenile victim as a “liar.”
Prosecutors said Biondi is employed as a teacher in the Bridgewater Township School District and has ties to the field hockey community. She reportedly supported Clay throughout his criminal case and tried to rally other families behind him.
A search warrant executed at Biondi’s home on Nov. 13 sought additional documents related to the alleged harassment.
