Woman charged with DWI, assault by auto in Hunterdon County crash
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A 38-year-old Hunterdon County woman is facing multiple charges following a crash last month in Clinton Township, according to police.
The crash occurred on March 21 at the intersection of Route 31 North and Country Club Drive.
During the investigation, the driver of a white Jeep — identified as Jessica Parcel of Glen Gardner Borough — allegedly showed visible signs of impairment and was unable to provide requested documentation, police said. While retrieving documents from the vehicle, an officer observed a wax fold of heroin in plain view. Parcel was arrested at the scene.
She was treated by rescue personnel but declined transport to the hospital, police said.
Parcel was taken to the Clinton Township Police Department for processing, where Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) were attempted. Police said she did not complete the tests as directed and also refused to provide breath samples. A telephonic warrant for her blood and urine was approved, and she was transported to Hunterdon Medical Center for testing, police said.
Parcel was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, assault by auto, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to observe a traffic control device, refusal to submit to a breath test, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, police said.
She was released to the custody of a responsible adult pending a court appearance, police said.
