Tractor-trailer loaded with wood pallets catches fire on I-80 in Warren County

KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A tractor-trailer loaded with wood pallets caught on fire on Interstate 80 Sunday afternoon in Warren County.

Knowlton Township Fire and Rescue, with assistance from the Blairstown Hose Company, Mount Bethel Volunteer Fire Company, Delaware Water Gap Fire Department, Shawnee Fire Company, and Acme Hose Company/East Stroudsburg Fire Department, responded just before 12:30 p.m. to a tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 80 westbound at Exit 1 in Hardwick Township, according to a post on the Knowlton Twp. Fire and Rescue Company’s Facebook page.

The driver exited safely and did not report any injuries, state police siad.

Interstate 80 westbound was closed while firefighters extinguished the fire and an extensive cleanup took place by the towing company.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
