1 injured after NJ state police vehicle, EMS vehicle collide on Route 46 in Warren County

WHITE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – One person was injured after a New Jersey state police vehicle and an EMS vehicle collided on Route 46 in Warren County Friday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

The crash occurred at 2:01 p.m. on Route 46 eastbound at milepost 11 in White Township, Curry said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a marked NJ state police Ford Explorer was traveling behind a marked Oxford EMS Chevy Tahoe. Both vehicles were traveling to a call for medical service with their emergency lights activated, Curry said.

Then in the area of milepost 11, the Oxford Chevy stopped in the lane of travel and attempted to make a U-turn. The NJ state police vehicle was unable to avoid a collision and struck the rear of the Chevy and then struck the guardrail, Curry said.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Oxford EMS vehicle suffered minor non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Curry said.

The trooper did not report any injuries, Curry said.
