Hunterdon County Deputy Director Soloway leads second annual collection of baby shower items for women veterans

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Deputy Director Commissioner Susan Soloway spearheaded the county collection for the second year in a row of Baby Shower Items to be gifted to Women veterans.

The event, sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Veteran Affairs, will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, at the Lyons Campus location, and will benefit veterans in their 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy, enrolled in Women’s Health Maternity Care.

“I want to thank everyone who donated once again to this worthwhile cause. Thanks to the generous contributions that were made last year, the New Jersey Department of Veteran Affairs reached out again to ask Hunterdon County to support our military women and their families. This collection is a great way to support veterans and I truly hope that many women and their babies benefit from these wonderful gifts,” Soloway said.

Items were collected throughout the month of May at locations throughout the county, including the Administration Building, County Clerk’s Office, the Department of Human Services and two county library locations.

Baby items collected included diapers and baby wipes, infant clothes in all sizes, plush toys, crib blankets and sheets, and various bottles and nursing items.

“I hope to continue this collection of essential infant items for veterans as an annual outreach through Hunterdon County. I would also like to remind generous givers to only donate NEW items, since old or used items cannot be given to the veterans,” Soloway said.
