Morris County man, 61, arrested for sexual assault of a juvenile

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 61-year-old Morris County man has been sentenced for sexually assaulted a juvenile in Montville Township, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

Juan A. Fernandez of Towaco pled guilty on June 19 to one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, Carroll said.

On Oct. 4, the Honorable Ralph Amirata, J.S.C., imposed a sentence of 16 years in New Jersey State Prison, with 16 years of parole ineligibility. Fernandez’s sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act and includes Parole Supervision for Life. Upon release, he will be required to register under Megan’s Law and is prohibited from having any contact with the victim or his family. The last five years of his sentence will be served at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center.

The charges stemmed from multiple sexual acts committed against a juvenile male victim, beginning when the victim was six years old and continuing until he was sixteen. The investigation into these allegations began in March 2024.
