Law enforcement advises public how to report drone activity

Morris and Somerset County law enforcement have issued a joint public statement regarding recent drone activity observed in Morris County.

County and local law enforcement agencies are aware of the ongoing reports of drone sightings around Morris and Somerset counties and acknowledge the public’s concerns about these repeated observations.

The county Prosecutor’s Offices, Sheriff’s Offices, and Emergency Management teams, along with municipal police departments, are working in close cooperation with the FBI-Newark, New Jersey State Police, and the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness. Together, we seek to reassure the public that the situation is being closely monitored and investigated.

At this time, there is no known threat to public safety.

The FBI-Newark and the NJ State Police are asking the public to report any information related to the recent sightings of possible drones. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov. Citizens can also upload videos through the FBI’s online portal.
