Tree falls on school bus in Hunterdon County; 11 transported to hospital for evaluation
TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A tree fell on a school bus in Tewksbury Township Friday morning, and 10 students along with the driver were transported to the hospital for evaluation, according to Tewksbury Township Police Chief Timothy Hanft.
At 7:08 a.m., police received a call about a school bus accident at Fairmont Road East and Addison Drive. A large tree had fallen onto the front half of the bus, prompting an immediate emergency response, Hanft said.
The bus was carrying 10 students and one driver at the time of the incident. All 11 individuals were transported to Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation. Non-life-threatening injuries were reported, Hanft said.
Upon arrival at the hospital, school personnel were on hand to meet with parents and assist in the reunification process, ensuring a smooth transition for families, Hanft added.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to all the first responders who assisted at the scene, including the Pottersville Fire Department, Califon Fire Department, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, and Tewksbury First Aid. Additionally, we thank Hunterdon County Communications for their critical role in coordinating an efficient and organized response,” Hanft said.
