NY Waterway and Boxcar launch joint shuttle-ferry service for Morris County commuters to Manhattan
Combined Ticket will Provide Seamless Weekday Shuttle and Ferry Travel Between Morristown, Madison, Chatham and NYC
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — NY Waterway, the largest operator of ferry service between New Jersey and New York, has announced a new partnership with integrated commuting company Boxcar to provide a seamless, single-ticket shuttle and ferry travel option for Morris County commuters heading into Manhattan on weekdays.
Beginning Friday, May 2, commuters can take advantage of a special shuttle service from four Boxcar pickup locations in Morris County to the Liberty Harbor and Paulus Hook Ferry Terminals in Jersey City. From there, travelers can connect to NY Waterway ferries bound for Brookfield Place, Pier 11/Wall Street, and Midtown/W. 39th Street in Manhattan.

Morning Boxcar Departures:
- Convent Station (Morris Twp.): 6:15 AM & 8:30 AM
- Madison Station: 6:25 AM & 8:40 AM
- Bruns & Main St., Madison: 6:26 AM & 8:41 AM
- Chatham Station: 6:31 AM & 8:46 AM
Ferry Departures from NJ:
- Liberty Harbor → Pier 11/Wall Street: 7:00 – 9:30 AM, every 30 mins (15 min trip)
- Paulus Hook → Pier 11/Wall Street: 7:37 – 9:37 AM, every 30 mins (8 min trip)
- Paulus Hook → Brookfield Place: Every 10 mins (7 min trip)
- Paulus Hook → Midtown/W. 39th St.: 7:25 – 9:25 AM, every 40 mins (25 min trip)
Evening Return Trips:
Ferry Departures from NYC:
- Pier 11 → Paulus Hook: 4:00 – 7:00 PM, every 30 mins (8 min trip)
- Brookfield Place → Paulus Hook: 5:07 – 7:22 PM, every 15 mins (8 min trip)
- Midtown/W. 39th St. → Paulus Hook: 4:10 – 6:50 PM, every 40 mins (25 min trip)
Evening Boxcar Shuttle Departures:
- Paulus Hook Terminal: 5:15 PM & 7:30 PM
Note: AM drop-offs and PM pickups will also include Exchange Place

“Since Boxcar launched our first bus in 2017, we’ve heard from hundreds of commuters who work in Jersey City or downtown Manhattan who want an easier commute,” said Boxcar CEO Joe Colangelo. “This new route and partnership with NY Waterway will get the ball rolling, and as we see more commuters improving their commutes with us, we’re ready to rapidly add additional times for these towns and expand this route to the other towns that we serve today.”
Tickets & Parking
Combined ferry and shuttle tickets are available exclusively on the Boxcar app for $29.99 one-way or $22.57 for Boxcar members. Travelers heading only to Jersey City can pay as little as $15.07 with a membership.
Ample reservable parking is available at all four New Jersey pick-up and drop-off points via the Boxcar app.
