Hunterdon County honors 9/11 victims, first responders at annual ceremony

FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday joined local law enforcement and community members in paying tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and honoring the enduring sacrifice of first responders.

Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson, Chief of Detectives Timothy J. Drew, and other law enforcement officials attended the annual remembrance ceremony at the Hunterdon County Justice Center, hosted by Sheriff Frederick Brown. The Prosecutor’s Office SWAT Color Guard presented the colors, and the Hunterdon Central High School Choir performed the national anthem.

This year’s keynote speaker, John Mulligan, a former U.S. Marine and FBI special agent, reflected on his career in counterterrorism and service in high-threat environments. Mulligan also previously served as deputy chief of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice and as an investigator with the Essex County and Hunterdon County prosecutors’ offices.

In his remarks, Mulligan honored the victims of Sept. 11, praised the dedication and bravery of first responders and military service members, and urged a spirit of unity and mutual respect across the nation.
